Vision for Batcliffe Wood




During 2023 a group of 6 students studying Landscape Architecture under Dr Mohammad Taleghani at Leeds Beckett University, took on a project to create a vision for Batcliffe Wood. They presented their ideas at Headingley Heart on 14th
December 2023 and some of their conclusions are presented here.

The idea was to make the entrance to Batcliffe Wood from Canterbury Drive more attractive and also safer from the danger of cars. The safety concerns relate to the wide road space at the end of Canterbury Drive. There is currently
no paved walk way in front of the terrace of new-build houses to the north of the roadway.

The whole area could be made more attractive by utilising the view onto the start of the Wood. More could be made of the verge areas of Canterbury Drive. ARARA (Ash Road Area Residents Association) has sponsored a mural on the gable
end on Canterbury Drive which would strongly contribute to any work the students would design.
